I can pretty much agree to this. I'd really appreciate it if I got BBC America in HD.

Yes, Top Gear is by far one of the best shows on TV.
There are no such thing as rights, only privileges granted by tyrants. It does not matter what guise these tyrants take -- Gods, Kings, Emperors, Dictators, Presidents, Congresses, Parliaments, Judges, and Juries -- the privileges called rights are doled out and rescinded at the whim of their interpretation of Justice and its unruly stepchild, Law.

The BBCA shows are cut down though, aren't they? I know the BBC versions, or even on the iTunesand Netflix, the show is almost exactly an hour long. On BBCA it's an hour with commercials. Also (and I could be wrong on this), I feel like the BBCA showings don't have the same soundtrack. On the BBC they constantly use bits of great film scores (I know LotR, TDK, Gladiator, and others have been used). I don't recall hearing those on the BBCA ones.

yes, BBCA cut about 15 minutes out of every episode, if you want the real thing you have to look at unofficial sources.

Top Gear US kind of ruined Top Gear for me. Like many others I watched it and hated it, but when I went back to the UK version (which I watched a good deal of but was never a hardcore fan or anything) I realized the exact same things I hated were still present, just with a different accent on top lol.

Top Gear is better than every show on TV, outside of Louie.

watched the season 18 marathon yesterday, easily the best season so far in terms of out of studio skits.
the wheelchair and movie stunt race episodes were hilarious

I never "got" Top Gear. Just doesn't do anything for me.

I love Top Gear.
In fact, I can attribute my recent purchase of a Porsche 944 to the show.
