I'll just have to decide if I wanna go i5 to save money, that that's support important to me, but also for it to be cooler since it doesn't hyperthread.

That's what I don't understand about the WEI. At scock my 2600k gets 7.5 and overclocked to 4.6-4.7ghz I only get 7.7, one time I got 7.8 after a few runs.

I get in a freakin zone when I start planning on what system parts I'm going to need, but I sit here and try to think of all the possibilities and I'll end up ordering like a few extra cables and/or fans that I don't end up using because I'd rather have everything here at one time so I can put it together rather than start doing it and go "damn, I need a longer cable for that". I'm going to miss not having a case that has a slide-out tray a little, it was always nice putting shit in and then just slide the tray in, but I'm also excited about the possibility of having a clean looking case for once instead of cables all over. By Grabthar's Hammer, this will look clean!

Coming from a Q6600, you are justified in either upgrade. I thought I was hanging tough with an i7 860.

The basic gist is, pretty much the same, just a few new features, no reason to upgrade from a Z68. Considering I'm coming from a P55 though, I'll want the newest, even though I can see some merit in the argument about getting a Z68 that has more mature drivers when prices start dropping. But still...I want da newest.

Bigger pisser is, one of the reasons I liked this mobo was that it had 2 eSATA ports, like I have now on my EVGA P55. I have a HDD dock plugged into one, and a BD burner in an enclosure plugged into either. Well I just saw in the specs a " * these ports are for data hard drives only. ATAPI devices are not supported".
I am face palming so hard now. Now I gotta either install the drive in the case, which I didn't want to do, or get a SATA to eSATA bracket and use that...hmmm, wait a tick, I think I have one of those that came with another enclosure that I used for my DVR.
I gotta make things so complicated.
On the plus side, I was watching a video on this mobo and the guy made a suggestion and blew my mind cuz I didn't know about it. So ok, my system drive is an SSD on the Intel port, so no need for their rapid shit since I'm not booting to a HDD. So I figured the Marvell SATA3 connectors would go unused. But ASUS has it set up that if I put a HDD and a SSD on the Marvell ports, that HDD will use the SSD for caching, and that would be great for the HDD if it's my games drive.

So IB was supposed to be 77W TDP all this time, and now, unless this is a fake or misprint, it's a 95W TDP.
Not the end of the world, but asplains some of the heat issue. I'm not worried about it OCing less too, at least coming from a non-SB, cuz from some of the tests I've seen, a 200 - 300 Mhz difference in IB vs SB equals about the same scores.
