The real deal illegal kind. Someone I know is making it (getting on the fadwagon) and he claims he can easily sell it for $120 a gallon. That doesn't seem right to me, but what do I know? And google is of no help right now.

I got some made by a company at a party. I can't remember the name but it was legal. It was 80 proof and actually tasted amazing. Never had any other kind though.

I think PGA is pretty much the same thing. I haven't bought that crap since high school though.

I really do trust this guy to make a good product, but that price sounds like an exaggeration. He wants me to sell it at $120 and he says I can make $300-700 a week, which is most definitely a load of shit.

From my supermarket I could get about 6 litres of Vodka (about 65%) for £100 so it seems like he's charging a bit much. That and he might blind someone.
So once again you're left with the classic Irish man's dilemma, do I eat the potato or do I let it ferment so I can drink it later?

Because its free? And makes some delicious drinks. Otherwise I agree and wouldn't waste my time. Logically, it should be cheaper than cheap whiskey, but its stigma adds to the price. But lol at paying $120.

Real moonshine is not very tasty man. I have had it plenty of times when I was younger and it feels like someone is taking an eraser to your brain when you're drunk and you feel like you're freely moving, but your body is locked up in concrete.

They may not have to pay taxes, but as a result of no regulation really anything can be put into the brew. Regulated drugs are always the best way to go.

When I told him I doubt I could sell all that much moonshine, he laughed and said all drinkers want moonshine (which I highly doubt, seeing how no one wants everclear). I will say that the apple pie flavored moonshine is insanely delicious, but not $25-35 a quart good.

True "made in the hills" moonshine definately doesn't cost that much. I don't know the current rate but a few years ago it was around $10 a quart. Normally that's about how people sell it is by the quart because it's so strong, it'll last a while. Plus if you get it by the jar, you can get a variety of flavors. I just happened upon this forum and since I'm from Appalachia, thought I'd put in my two cents. I personally have never tried moonshine because I don't care for alcohol. However, being from this area gives you a certain level of common knowledge. There aren't as many moonshiners as there used to be. Sadly the drug of choice nowadays is Meth. You'll occasionally still run across remnants of the old stills. It isn't so common that's being sold out in the open but you don't have to ask around much to find someone who can hook you up. As far as the danger of moonshine, yes it can be dangerous if you get a bad batch. I know someone whose father passed away from alcohol poisoning from it. However, around here everyone knows each other and by extension, who knows how to make it right with the proper equipment as opposed to running it through a radiator. Supposedly you can tell quality by such things as the clarity (cloudy is bad) and the color of flame as it burns.
