KISS Sells Catalog, Brand Name and IP to Pophouse Entertainment for 300 Million Dollars

I love music from that era, but never really got into Kiss. I am indifferent to this... 'collacquisition'.

Actually, no. I'm not indifferent. If Simmons and whomever else are the remaining members of Kiss, are able to split a cool 300 mil, decades after stardom, I say God Bless.

People are making a big deal about this because it’s KISS but a lot of other acts with “integrity” like Bruce Springsteen have already sold their catalog so they’re just following the trend of other legacy bands.

Kiss fandom is pretty weird... it's like, everyone kinda knows it's all just a big novelty act designed to sell merchandise, and it's all pretty silly and dumb, but no one cares and everyone is in on it and buys all the merchandise anyway...

My favorite thing about KISS is all the Family Guy bits related to them. I don’t even mind the sellout/money making/whatever because they’ve always been very up front about that. I don’t really know their music at all though.

Do you want to rock & roll all night and… have… a really good time…?

We're hating on Kiss now? Why? No one is claiming they are one of the great bands, but fun? Hell yeah. And unlike a lot of artists they know exactly what they are. New York Groove (for example) is not exactly Kiss (and I know it's a cover but Ace Frehley killed it), but c'mon, this is good shit. My appreciation for Kiss rose dramatically after seeing the excellent comedy Role Models for the best description of Kiss ever.

"They're these Jewish guys who grew up in New York and they put on guitars and make up to get girls. And all their songs are about fucking. This song is called "Love Gun" and it's about Paul Stanley's dick."
