  1. Russian troops have been massing on the eastern (Russia) and southern (Crimean) border of Ukraine for a few weeks. My guess is they will invade when the "rebels" in eastern Ukraine ask for independence to be recognized, and Ukraine refuses. The real reason is that Russia only gives a shit about Crimea, and Ukraine blocked off the main water supply, so Russia will invade to secure access to the river/dam that supplies it.

  10. The attack, which was thwarted with the help of British officials, came after the cybercrime unit of the GRU Russian military intelligence directorate had also attempted a remote attack on the Porton Down chemical weapons facility in April and on the UK Foreign Office in March. Both attacks were unsuccessful.

  12. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said 36,000 tanks, armoured personnel carriers and armoured infantry vehicles would take part in Vostok-2018, from 11 to 15 September, along with more than 1,000 aircraft. 13. Last March Putin unveiled Russia's nuclear powered missiles, boasting of their unlimited range and ability to avoid countermeasures. Apparently they've been testing them in the Barents Sea to the north of Russia, but all four tests have quickly ended in failure. In contrast to their purported unlimited range, the longest flight achieved so far lasted all but two minutes. US intelligence experts think that Moscow has recovered three of the missiles, but cannot locate the last one. The missiles did not have nuclear warheads, but obviously the nuclear material powering the reactor is still a concern.
