  1. After the past year I’m thinking it’s gonna be tough for me to ever go to a crowded football game, concert, etc, without wearing a mask.
  2. I wonder if he’ll be able to survive this with his brother running PR for him.
  3. The mask thing seems like a good idea. I really have no problem wearing a mask. I can definitely see myself continuing to wear masks when attending crowded events like football games for example. I imagine it’ll be a little tough to get used to sitting shoulder to shoulder with strangers once again.
  4. When do you think vaccinations will be available to the general populace in saskatchewan?
  5. Whatever happened to cool cults like Hare Krishnas and stuff? Why do they all gotta be xenophonbic nationalist weirdos these days?
  6. I feel like this is sort of based on a false premise. International treaties covering water rights exist and while I don't know of the specific dam you're discussing, I would be very, very surprised if there isn't a large amount of international negotiation involved in its construction. Like I really doubt that Ethiopia is just going to stop the flow of the Nile for a couple years while the dam fills up and tell Egypt to deal with it. The UN isn't useless just because it can't immediately force any country it wants to immediately bend the knee.
  7. It seems like most developing countries have handled covid better than a lot of developed countries, and (potential China propaganda incoming) China is distributing their Sinovac vaccine, at least in south east Asia, already. If other vaccines are able to come online soon, and vaccine production is able to be ramped up as much as people are saying, I'd guess most of the world, including the developing world, will be vaccinated by mid 2022 at the latest.
  8. I'm not a "propagandist" for any country. I just don't have as much faith in US propaganda as you do...
  9. That's kind of off-topic no? My thoughts on that are pretty simple: Western leftists meme all day about guillotining billionaires. Then a Chinese billionaire decides he better lay low because the state is upset at him and it's suddenly an absolute outrageous abuse of power. Seems a little contradictory to me. I wonder if leftists in the west are perhaps a little xenophobic. It's not an issue that I really care about, tbh. I care more that my government is making enemies with the second most powerful economy in the world and we're now seeing the consequences.
  10. That 50% effectiveness number is for the Sinovac vaccine which isn't the same as the Cansino vaccine, and it isn't really an accurate representation anyway (the vaccine is about 50% effective at preventing covid entirely, but its effectiveness at preventing serious symptoms is 90%+). China blocking the export of the Cansino vaccine was completely foreseeable given how our government has hopped full hog on the anti-China propaganda train. You can't spit on your colleagues and expect them to remain your colleagues. Admittedly this is not only a Trudeau thing -- likely any other government (probably even a hypothetical NDP government, as far fetched as the idea would be) would've been just as anti-China. But Trudeau is currently the Prime Minister, so he's ultimately the one responsible.
  11. Most of the Twitter comments in the Twitter thread seem to agree with Paul. I think the most important part of that interview is when he says "I plan on spending the next two years going around state to state fixing these problems and I won't be cowed by liberals in the media who say 'there's no evidence here, you're a liar if you talk about election fraud.'" The GOP is going to go whole hog on the election fraud narrative.
  12. Now that I’ve thought some more about it, I’d be really surprised if Japan canceled the olympics this early. I’m guessing they’ll do the same thing they did last year — wait until it becomes clear that it definitely can’t go on because too many national olympic committees have pulled out. If Japan can pull the olympics off, it’ll be remembered as the event that marked the end of covid-19. Now of course that’s assuming the olympics don’t trigger another major outbreak. But if the majority of the population is immunized and you have confidence in the vaccine, in theory that shouldn’t happen.
  13. I used to drink a shit load of energy drinks, but then I started getting an eye twitch so now I just drink water.
  14. They’ve been saying that it either goes in 2021 or it doesn’t happen at all. I think it cost them a lot of money to reschedule and they don’t wanna do it again.
