Update on the single-device/browser login restriction issue some people are having.   04/04/2017

4/7/2017 update: Now people who've been affected by this are saying that it went away on its own after about a week. So I dunno, if this would really hugely inconvenience you try to not log in on additional devices/browsers until the 4.2 update that's supposed to hopefully resolve this for good.   original announcement: For a long time now, D1P has been limited to three logins at a time; logging in on a fourth device or browser would log you out everywhere else. Unfortunately, multiple people have been reporting that they've started experiencing being limited to ONE login at a time.   The good news is, Invision Power Services (the company that makes our forum software) is aware of the issue and will be addressing it in version 4.2 of the software, which is the next big update. The bad news is, they announced about a month ago (the beginning of March 2017) that the update will be coming out in "mid 2017", so we probably have at least another couple of months to go before this is resolved.   In the meantime, I apologize to those affected for the inconvenience, and would suggest to everyone else to not log in to additional devices until this is resolved if this is something you don't want to have to have to deal with. I'm still not 100% sure on why it's not affecting everyone and why it didn't hit everyone affected at the same time, but the timing of when the reports of this started here mostly lines up with when I've seen reports of other sites having this issue starting, and I suspect that the problem is trickling in because of people happening to hit a fourth login that logs them out everywhere else, and then proceeding to be limited to one login at a time after that.

  1. I didn't really understand the need until I got one. I can understand why you wouldn't. I got one for work and at first thought I wasn't really gonna have much to do with it. Also, it took a while, but I can type on it nearly as fast as a regular keyboard - it just took a little while to get good at it. Not to mention I carry a clipboard and hold the ipad with my clipboard and its so thin and light its hardly noticable. The battery lasts for days. I don't have to boot it up or sit it on a desk. And it used to be that my phone was my calculator and my planner and my alarm clock and a ton of other gadgets and now the tablet is. Especially at work where I am sharing the information with other people all day. And if I am somewhere without it, since I have an iphone, I set reminders and add contacts and such (which is easier and faster on the tablet) and it all automatically updates on the phone. Quite frankly its better for browsing the internet on than a computer imo, especially with apps like Pulse that brings news together from everywhere and the apps that some websites have made put their actual website to shame (weather channel for example) (And I have never once missed having Flash. I used/had an android tablet briefly before I got the ipad and I turned flash off on it because it made web browsing laggy and sluggish. And now Adobe isn't even supporting flash on mobile devices so soon nothing will have it.) It is basically a big, more powerful iphone, but at the same time it is more far more functional and the big screen makes a lot more possible.
  2. Still no true 1080p dashboard support I wasn't in the beta or anything and mine updated as soon as I turned it on earlier.
  3. I've only really laughed out loud at Portal 1/2 and parts of San Andreas and GTA 4 that I can recall but I also found Conkers Bad Fur Day very funny throughout.
  4. For some reason after reading this thread I am dying to download the patch, and I haven't played the game (or any game) in days.
  5. Running and jumping and exploring around outside the castle in Mario 64 for the first time at Toys R Us and later at home on Xmas when I was a kid is my most wowed moment and the thing I am most nostalgic about. After that, getting to Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time for the first time along with a ton of things in the original Shenmue, especially the ending, which I literally teared up during and I was like 15 or 16. The story in Metal Gear Solid 3, especially the ending, had me more "wowed" or speechlessly entralled than most any other game I can think of from a story standpoint. Playing the original Halo for the first time and staring at the sun through the tree limbs. The vistas in Red Dead Redemption. Tons more I could name. Just since we are on wows I can't help but bring up the end of Dexter Season 4, even though it's not a game, I have never been more shocked/wowed/speechless/taken off guard by something happening in any movie/game/book/show, etc. than I was during the last few minutes of that.
  6. Is newegg not charging tax now? 10%ish tax is crazy if that's what you have. (You know legally you're required to pay the tax yourself if the website doesn't charge it) BB has free shipping on everything, the hp you'd have to do in store pickup on though. If I was buying a laptop for gaming, even casually, I would go as near to the ceiling on my budget as I could for performance.
  7. I was speaking in the $429 price range. It's better than the 520, but not as good as the 540. Also to answer something I didn't see answered earlier, all laptop i5s are dual cores.
  8. If that's your price range something like THIS has decent amount higher passmark scores for the GPU and the CPU, not to mention the laptop make is FAR nicer with brushed aluminum, usb 3.0, nice speakers, bigger HDD etc. etc. Where as the acer is the same model as their $250 throw away gateway/acers, and its build and processor are over a year old.
  9. Ram speed isn't very important comparing things like DDR2 vs DDR3 but cell phone memory is in a different class to the point where it isn't relevant to this thread. (not sure if you were even replying to me though).
  10. The ram in your cell phone is also ultra low power and slower than refridgerated molasses which is why it needs as much as it has.
  11. I think some people have skewed memories. Before this generation console games were nearly always $49.99 and sometimes less going back. There were certain games on the NES, SNES, and N64 (and other systems) that were higher but it wasn't usually the MSRP (though some here and there were higher), it was stores marking them up because of their demand. N64 launch games, for example, were in short supply and many places were charging $80-$90 a pop, which is something that doesn't really happen anymore.
  12. I've tried this several times and I found it distracting, made my TV appear smaller (same reason they don't put white bezels on TVs) and it didn't help at all with eye strain for me. A dim lamp on next to the couch was much better for me. "This is why movie theaters dim the lights instead of turning them off, as well." I don't know where you go, but other than a tiny dollar theater with no floor lights, I haven't been to a theater that didn't completely cut the lights out. Usually the only light in the theaters are the guides on the floor so you can walk.
  13. My issue is no one talks in the damn game. Its even worse than Bad Company 2 where it was already hard enough to find people that talked. When you finally find a squad where people talk the game gets 10x as fun if you are coordinating. Even when I switch my VOIP to the whole team noone is talking. IDK if I am doing something wrong or what, don't understand it. I also had the issues where if you were trying to bring a squad into the game it would usually drop someone and then put you on seperate teams and not even in the same squad. I had better luck just getting one person to find and join a game and then everyone else joining them off their gamertag.
  14. I haven't had a single problem since the issues the day came out. I use the server browser to find the game I want with the best ping though...every game should have a server browser. It's running great with no lag. Also if you are using the server browser make sure you are setting the filters with the right click on the analoge stick. It seems to default everyone to European servers.
  15. Its probably just because I grew up watching them, but I would go crazy for a super authentic, realistic looking open world Gotham Batman game based off of the Tim Burton films, with that Batmobile, and suit and Bat Cave and everything. Not this gen though, it'd have to be done next gen to do it justice.
