Update on the single-device/browser login restriction issue some people are having.   04/04/2017

4/7/2017 update: Now people who've been affected by this are saying that it went away on its own after about a week. So I dunno, if this would really hugely inconvenience you try to not log in on additional devices/browsers until the 4.2 update that's supposed to hopefully resolve this for good.   original announcement: For a long time now, D1P has been limited to three logins at a time; logging in on a fourth device or browser would log you out everywhere else. Unfortunately, multiple people have been reporting that they've started experiencing being limited to ONE login at a time.   The good news is, Invision Power Services (the company that makes our forum software) is aware of the issue and will be addressing it in version 4.2 of the software, which is the next big update. The bad news is, they announced about a month ago (the beginning of March 2017) that the update will be coming out in "mid 2017", so we probably have at least another couple of months to go before this is resolved.   In the meantime, I apologize to those affected for the inconvenience, and would suggest to everyone else to not log in to additional devices until this is resolved if this is something you don't want to have to have to deal with. I'm still not 100% sure on why it's not affecting everyone and why it didn't hit everyone affected at the same time, but the timing of when the reports of this started here mostly lines up with when I've seen reports of other sites having this issue starting, and I suspect that the problem is trickling in because of people happening to hit a fourth login that logs them out everywhere else, and then proceeding to be limited to one login at a time after that.

  1. We tried the games on the lowest settings possible (resolution) and it still had the same issue. The games just don't want to use the GPU.
  2. Helpful.
  3. Power settings are all set to high performance. For GPU drivers we went to the newest and we also tried going back a ways. Global 3D settings all look fine. Resolution is just 1080p I'm not sure on the Tflops of the GPU. How do you see how many Tflops the GPU is outputting? I just know we used MSI Afterburner to look at the current GPU usage.
  4. Yes, the CPU is running at the correct speed.
  5. Built a comp back in 2012 with the same specs but on Windows 7 and with an hdd. We did a clean install of Windows 7 onto a Samsung EVO 500gb. Once we had everything installed we found the fps dropped to 10 playing any games (sims 4, dota, Marvel Heroes). Noticed that the CPU seems to go up to 100% pretty easily. The more CPU usage, the lower the FPS. We tried... reinstalling Windows 7 Upgrading to Windows 10 Ensured all drivers were up to date Spent hours reverting to older drivers Changing settings and priorities for some of the CPU intensive processes listed Apparently looking the MSI afterburner showed only ~20% gpu usage if that helps nail down the problem. OS: Windows 10 (this same problem happened on Windows 7, also) CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Ram: 8GB Video Card: GTX 560 TI Anyone have any ideas?
  6. I remember a few years ago D1P did a server for Terraria. It was a blast. I'd like to do that again. Would anyone want to start up a server again now that 1.3 is out?
  7. Doh! Just realized I paid with my Paypal account instead of my Amazon credit card, so now I wont get any cash back. =\ Oh well.
  8. So when will amazon start to have them? EDIT: Welp. It was back in stock on their website so I just ended up buying one from them.
  9. I work at a computer repair shop and I've been having issue with a stubborn computer/printer. So I have a customer that brought in a laptop and a Lexmark x264dn printer. The computer suddenly just doesn't want to print. The print job will just stay stuck on "printing" but never actually print. I've done all the obvious things like restarting the spooling service, reinstalling drivers, new firmware, etc. I've tried using the printer over the network and I've also tried just using a USB cable. Same problem either way. I have also connected the printer to one of the shop's computers and it works fine. Our computer recognized it right away and printed it to with no problem. I then tried putting our printer to the customer's laptop and had no problem with that either. Could I get some ideas please? I'm running out of ideas.
  10. I think it did go viral to some extent. I'm pretty sure I remember finding it on reddit videos when it came out.
  11. I remember watching the video on youtube for the first time maybe a couple of years ago. Basically all I remember was a guy that looked to be around 20, a little bit of a heavier guy, and white, and he played the piano while covering a song by Frank Sinatra. I'm not sure what song it was, as I don't listen to much Frank Sinatra. Anyone remember this video? I'd love to get a link to is so I can see it again.
  12. Eh. I'm just going to buy a couple keys for normal Windows 8 Pro. I already have a flash drive with the ISO on it (yes I know it's not a big deal to make a new one lol) and it's not a big deal to just run some updates on a new install.
  13. So if I got a Windows 8.1 N key, does that mean later on I'll have to find a Windows 8.1 N ISO? I feel like years from now when I may need to install again and I don't have the original ISO, it'll be hard to find the 8.1 N Iso online.
  14. As for the non-k CPU. I'd like to keep that option open at least just incase he changes his mind on it at a later time. The 3 monitors are 2 desktop monitors and his TV, so no gaming on 3 monitors will be done. And yeah, I'll probably add another actual HDD just for storage. I'm going to talk to him about that tonight. And also what are your thoughts on going with an i7 instead of an i5? My thoughts were that going with an i7 would be a bit of a better choice longterm as it's easier to update a video card than update a processor.
  15. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hQVfkL So it's been a bit since I've been researching parts and whatnot. Requirements: 1TB SSD support for 3 monitors, 2 actual monitors and 1 TV (his monitors have hdmi and dvi) Single video card, Nvidia Will only buy from Amazon and Newegg Anything you guys would change? He isn't going to overclock (at least not right away) so he doesn't need a CPU cooler. Also doesn't need a disc drive as he'll probably use the one from his previous computer.
