  1. This, the idea of eGPUs is fascinating to me. Ultimately I think I will go the SFF PC route, when I travel I usually end up in a hotel with at least a 1080p TV and HDMI so I'd rather have the power to drive my games at full speed for a longer period of time.
  2. Its a similar story for me, it was the family IBM Aptiva. I bought a Voodoo 3 2000 from CompUSA. My first self built PC used an Athlon Thunderbird and I don't remember what card I threw in first, just that I had more than one. I wanna guess it was an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro.
  3. I just had a 1TB Western Digital Black start to die on me, ironically it was a warranty replacement for another one that did the same thing. I had my drive in an external enclosure and only powered it on and connected it when needed, but I've had that drive for a while now, so I guess age + wear and tear finally caught up. This may sound like bro-science but all I did was keep it plugged in, lay the enclosure flat instead of standing it up on its side, and eventually the drive was recognized. I used Western Digital's diagnostic tools and of course everything came back fine. I bought the cheapest/biggest SSD I could find and simply created an image of that hard drive onto the SSD.
  4. I still have my first laptop, its an Asus G73jw from 2010. I've only done minor upgrades like add more RAM and an SSD, but its too old at this point to play anything modern. For fun I tried to play GTA V at its lowest settings and it looked/played terrible. I'm looking to spend around $1000 to get something that'll do 1080p gaming, whenever I find something like that I'll pull the trigger and retire the G73jw. Also its good to see the PCCB is still around.
