Update on the single-device/browser login restriction issue some people are having.   04/04/2017

4/7/2017 update: Now people who've been affected by this are saying that it went away on its own after about a week. So I dunno, if this would really hugely inconvenience you try to not log in on additional devices/browsers until the 4.2 update that's supposed to hopefully resolve this for good.   original announcement: For a long time now, D1P has been limited to three logins at a time; logging in on a fourth device or browser would log you out everywhere else. Unfortunately, multiple people have been reporting that they've started experiencing being limited to ONE login at a time.   The good news is, Invision Power Services (the company that makes our forum software) is aware of the issue and will be addressing it in version 4.2 of the software, which is the next big update. The bad news is, they announced about a month ago (the beginning of March 2017) that the update will be coming out in "mid 2017", so we probably have at least another couple of months to go before this is resolved.   In the meantime, I apologize to those affected for the inconvenience, and would suggest to everyone else to not log in to additional devices until this is resolved if this is something you don't want to have to have to deal with. I'm still not 100% sure on why it's not affecting everyone and why it didn't hit everyone affected at the same time, but the timing of when the reports of this started here mostly lines up with when I've seen reports of other sites having this issue starting, and I suspect that the problem is trickling in because of people happening to hit a fourth login that logs them out everywhere else, and then proceeding to be limited to one login at a time after that.

  1. Well, if they have a job where they're being paid under the table, they still pay sales tax, gas tax, sin tax, property tax etc. If they have a job where they're using a stolen SSN, they're paying all of the above plus income tax, medicare, etc.. Plus, all the money they pour into social security will never come back to them. I'm not saying illegal immigrants are okay, but believing that they're only taking away from our society is a fallacy.
  2. Well, I twice I guess. I made a silver account when Live first started but then lost the password for it and couldn't get in anymore. When I got my 360 I had to come up with something else since I couldn't recover my original tag. Then, when MS started releasing old accounts I put my 800 points down and got my original name back (animeguru).
  3. And a history of my previous purchases through whatever store I got it from would do the same. No, DRM has no benefit for the consumer. It only serves to prevent people from being able to utilize products they purchased in whatever (legal) manner they want.
  4. Do anything interesting while you were there Dylan? Morning everyone.
  5. I read Reddit too!
  6. Super Mario. If you only count the platformers, I've got eleven of those. If you count the games titled Super Mario (Kart, Golf, Tennis, etc.) then the number gets significantly higher. Plus all the merchandise (figures, plush, remote control kart, etc.) I've spent huge sums of money on Mario stuff.
  7. Like I said, I don't know if mine was showing up online previously, I just tried to change my name and was able to. It doesn't cost you anything to check a name on your 360, you only pay after you confirm the change. I'd suggest trying to actually claim the name rather than assuming that if it shows up on xbox.com that you can't get it.
  8. Elizabeth Taylor died this morning. Talk about the end of an era. Joe, how is the gay community taking this... are you guys going to be okay?!
  9. Only thing I can think to try is just logging in to Live and trying to change your tag to one of the desired ones. I didn't look to see if my new tag showed up as valid online or anything, just went in to my Xbox settings and did the change gamer tag. It worked and I finally got my original gamertag back. Sure, it cost me $10, but it just feels right.
  10. You should check out Maggie Gyllenhaal in Secretary... good movie.
  11. She said that the site looks "ASSY" and she doesn't want to join up. She registered at some other board but most of us had already come here.
  12. Judgment Day Pet Services
  13. 51 Miles from the nearest one... just outside of the danger zone. Hiyoooo!!
  14. Just marry someone who's down for watching you game. That's what I did. She doesn't really enjoy watching me play something that doesn't have a decent story to follow, so I tend to pick games that I know she'll enjoy as well. The games I know she won't be into I save for the times when I'm at home and she isn't. Also, my 1.5 hour commute to work (all on public transit) leaves me time to game on my DS or iPod Touch.
  15. I've been meaning to do a new run through ME1 and ME2... my old 360 died so I'll need a new save to import into ME3. This is making it a bit harder to continue to put it off. My wife is going to be pissed when I take over the big screen for the next couple of weeks. [face_grin]
