  1. And as much as many of you irritate me with the status-quo doom and gloom, basically mimicking Mouse from the Poorly Drawn Lines comic strip: It's one of my favorite places to talk current events because we're all so used to each other and not questioning motives. Hope y'all are doing well in life.

  4. I went to see a girl I've been hooking up with and tried to turn it into something serious but come to find out relationships aren't her thing. Which is fine could have left if at that but after I left she had to make a big deal out of it (I guess I was stupid for bringing it up on her period). It's about a 3 hour drive home and about halfway home my dad calls me... Fuck this can't be good Gramma is gone So I go and pick my car up that is finally fucking fixed after 6 weeks and out to the family house... Dad's like "about an hour ago Johnny passed away (one of my Grandma's nephews)... Oh on a random fact it's also my step brothers birthday today. Anyhow my dad is looking for the will and can't find the key to the big safe or one of the small safety boxes. So I'm going through all the keys for the one box he can't find the key to (he found the keys to multiple other ones)... I find the right key and I open it up and attached to the inside of the lid is a letter "For Anthony" (hey that's me...)... I open it Anthony: I hid in the wall behind the toilet a safety box for you use it wisely. Grandpa P.S. Only use it if something happens to me and Grandma I find it and for fucks sakes he can hide a safety box in the wall but not tell me where the key is So I go back into the mountain of keys and eventually find the one. Inside is a bunch of old coins and some old bills including a $2 bill from 1964 in damn good shape... I bet a lot of this is really valuable but I can't use it it's all really valuable to me now

  12. I think i'm about 15ish hours into the game so far. I'm lvl 20. This game feels like Assassin's Creed Odyssey + Yakuza style relationship systems + better combat. Things im liking so far: Gear system: I've seen some reviewers complain about the overwhelming amount of loot. I find this loot system to be very similar to AssCreed Odyssey, in that you are gonna get a TON of stuff, and then if you are someone that gets some joy out of min maxing stat upgrades on loot there is a TON to play with here. Taking down forts/bases: If you're someone that enjoyed taking down all the forts in AssCreed maps, this is going to feel similar. Relationship systems: There are a TON of characters to meet in this game, and with some of them you can increase your "bond" with them by giving them gifts and talking with them. Some of these characters can assist you as an ally on some missions, and depending on how high your bond with them is will directly impact how strong they are in that mission. This has actually been a lot of fun for me. Colleting things: at the end of the day, like most open world games, this is a collectathon. There are cats to pet, chests to find, fugitives to hunt down, photos to take, etc. And the game does a good job incentivizing you to do it, by giving you clear progress bars of how much you've done in a given area, and by giving you bonuses for completing everything in a given area. The combat: I'm a baby when it comes to parry-based combat games. I'm not good at them. By the time I got to the first boss fight in this game, I instantly needed to turn the game to easy mode. Now, after having played a bit, and understanding the different combat styles of the different weapons, I'm feeling far more confident at the timings of things. And it is extremely satisfying to go up to a group, parry them, get the crit hit, and walk away feeling like a bad ass. (i'll note that i'm still BAD at parrying, but getting better). Things im disliking: The AI is good in combat, but otherwise pretty dumb. They don't seem to react much to dead NPCs, they have pretty limited cones of vision. Taking down bases silently (which is something I loved to do in AssCreed games) feels a little too easy/dull in this game. I've opted to just go in full aggro mode now to most bases. The Glider: the glider is AWESOME. It feels good, controls well, and you can pop in and out of it super easily. But it doesn't feel like the world was really designed with the glider in mind. I almost NEVER use it, unless I happen to be on top of a hill and need to go downhill. But it being used as a way to save time traveling is pointless because of my next point. Fast Traveling: this game provides such a stupid amount of fast travel points. In most zones you are going to find 2 or 3 fast travel points, which is more than enough for how large the zones are. But in cities they give you a fast travel point like EVERY OTHER BLOCK! It's actually just annoying to find the icon I need on the map between all the fast travel icons. ITS FAR TOO MUCH! Other thoughts: Graphics: yeah, the graphics are not up to PS5 standards and it's weird that a PS5 exclusive doesn't look better. That said, do I think it looks bad? No. The world design just looks like its from an older gen console game. But some things, like the character models, armor, and weapons, do look pretty good. Co-op: You can play online co-op with 2 other real players, but only during missions (the same missions where you can bring along allies. So these players would replace the allies). I haven't tried it yet, but it feels... pointless? Those missions are usually pretty short. You are just clearing a base usually. Factions: This game has two factions, and makes you feel like you need to pick a side right away. But the vibe I get is you can work with both sides and it likely does not matter until you need to make a larger choice at some point later on. I'm sure I am forgetting some things. But that's it for now.

  15. There is certainly a fair emotional response to a situation that is unfair in a vacuum, that one group gets something while another group doesn’t. But in this particular instance it misses a larger issue that the system of higher education finance is itself unfair on a fundamental level. Spending more time with kids who are trying their hardest to improve their lives through education as I walk with my own children through their college career, I have an even better sense of just how little the average person understands how to pay for college, or what the expected value of a particular degree will be. How do you make rational economic decisions when so much is obfuscated, even more so when you are largely talking about 18-22 year olds who barely understand the basics of personal finance? Getting a college education does not have to be prohibitively expensive, but it has been for many people through a combination of ignorance and predatory behavior. The federal government played a large part in making this system, they ought to do more to fix what they broke. Debt forgiveness shouldn’t be the end of the process, but it is one proper step to take.

  16. I think a more effective reform would be to reform the entire Federal Court system. District Judges are randomly assigned to districts and reassigned to a district randomly every 5 years (1/5th of each district court moving each year). Appeals Court Judges are also reassigned to a different Circuit Court every 5 years same as District Judges. The Supreme Court will only have a permanent Chief Justice. 13 Associate Justices will be randomly selected from among Appeals Judges from each Circuit serving a 13 year term (one new and retiring Associate Justice every year). Chief Justice gets a double vote in the event of a tie. I don't think you need a Constitutional Amendment for any of this.

  17. Stolen from Reddit: "HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY TO ALL, INCLUDING CROOKED AND CORRUPT ROMANS AND PHARISEES THAT DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO INTERFERE WITH ME LIVING BY HANGING ME ON THIS CROSS INCLUDING THOSE MANY PEOPLE THAT I COMPLETELY & TOTALLY DESPISE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DESTROY JERUSALEM, A NOW FAILING CITY, LIKE "DERANGED" PONTIUS PILOT, WHO IS EVIL AND "SICK," MR. JUDAS "JUDE" ISCARIOT, WHO SAID HE HARDLY KNEW THE ROMANS, ONLY TO FIND THAT HE BETRAYED ME FOR THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER - A PITIFUL AMOUNT OF MONEY BY THE WAY - LONG BEFORE THE CRUCIFICTION OF JESUS CHRIST BEGAN (AND THERBY MAKING THE CASE AGAINST ME NULL, VOID, AND ILLEGAL!) SO UNFAIR! THIS CRUCIFICTION SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT, IS BREAKING THE LAW IN DOING SO, WAS TURNED DOWN BY ALL OTHER ROMAN GOVERNORS, AND IS NOT A CRIME. JESUS 4 KING! HAPPY GOOD FRIDAY!"

If you have the displeasure of crossing paths with Derrick and choose to hire him, be sure to treat him like the piece of dirt he is. Don't bother giving him a parting gift, as I will throw it away and scold him. Feel free to order him to fight the troll alone. Laugh as he gets trampled by the Gryphon. If he calls for backup, just tell him to shut up. Just shut up, Derrick. I don't care about your damn blueberries. If anyone is willing to trade for Derrick, I'll gladly take literally anything for him. Fuck you, Derrick.

  26. The current mother of games may well die a thousand deaths over time, but something will always cast its gaze upon that void and seek to fill it. IF cost is the current knife that cuts the game boy's umbilical and in that action's wake, a sea of graves does rises, then all those bodies and soil will seed another crop to take its place in the fullness of time! Am I doing this right? am I swerving between incomprehensible and purple prose?

  28. Biggie is probably right. My simple actions got someone pulled over once. This Mustang was riding my ass big time on a country road. Something like that usually doesn’t bother me but it was becoming a nuisance so I pulled over when it was safe to let him by. Speeds off. Not a minute or two up the road he had sped through a speed trap and the cop had just pulled him to a stop. I gave a little victory honk as I drove by.
